The Daniels Fund is the legacy of Bill Daniels. He loved America
and believed each of us has a duty to offer help and hope to
others. He established the Daniels Fund in 1997 to support
programs that encourage personal responsibility and achievement.
When Bill died in 2000, the bulk of his estate
transferred to Daniels Fund, making it the largest foundation
in the Rocky Mountain Region. The Fund concentrates on two
areas:
College Scholarships – The Fund supports an innovative
college scholarship program, the Daniel Scholars. Bill wanted
the program to identify students in Arizona, Colorado, New
Mexico, and Utah, who show academic promise, strength of character,
leadership potential, and a well-rounded personality, but who
would never be able to go to college without financial assistance,
mentoring, and personal support. Since 2000, the program has
provided assistance to thousands of young people.
Community Support – The Fund provides grants to programs
that help disadvantaged members of the community, including
the homeless, physically handicapped and elderly individuals,
and those suffering from substance abuse and mental handicaps.
Program areas eligible for grants through the Daniels Fund
fall under the categories of: Aging, Alcoholism & Substance
Abuse, Amateur Sports, Youth Development, Disabilities, Homeless & Disadvantaged,
and Education.

“Each person on this planet is unique. Each with a spirit
of their own.
Each with blessings to count.
Why not use this holiday season to demonstrate
your individuality by sharing your good fortune with those around you.
Take an hour of your schedule and pay a visit to an elderly neighbor.
Find a way to help a family that is homeless.
Put a couple of extra coins in the Salvation Army’s kettle.
Share
your special love with your family and friends.
And, sometime during the holidays take
a quiet half-hour by yourself to count all the things you have to be
thankful for.
You may just find you’ve received the greatest gift of all.”

There’s no doubt about it, college life is a blast. In
the blur of classes, work, parties, papers, sports, and laundry, you’ll
make some of your best and longest-lasting friendships. Ideally, you’ll
also come away with a solid plan for a fulfilling career and ways to
serve your community. Along the way, you’ll no doubt encounter
sloppy roommates, noisy living situations, difficult classes, and endless
but enjoyable distractions that may frustrate you and your academic efforts.
By being prepared and knowing how to handle the challenges, however,
you’re guaranteed to
succeed. |
