College alumni are often fiercely dedicated to their colleges and will attend reunions and functions, send donations, and follow their athletic teams throughout their lives. As you’ll see on campus, alumni even remember colleges in their wills. This level of devotion, however, is rarely inspired solely by experiences in the classroom. You also get to know and love your college by getting involved.

“Join at least one club — don't be a loner.”

– A Daniels Scholar

As a college student, the education you will receive outside the formal classroom is almost as important as the education you get in the classroom. Whether you live on campus, off campus, or at home, your willingness to get involved and connected to the campus community will greatly enhance your college experience. Join a student organization, play sports, or do volunteer work—or all of the above—and you’ll add to your love for your college and your life there as well.
