Living off campus
Most colleges require students to live on campus or
at home their first year, but usually you have the option to
move off campus for the remaining years.
Depending
on the college, many students do move into apartments or rental houses in the
area. Moving off campus can have benefits, especially if you can afford to
live alone or have fewer roommates. You may have more privacy
and fewer distractions.
But you’ll also have more responsibilities in terms of shopping, cooking,
cleaning, and bill paying. (Sometimes, you can live off campus but still participate
in the college meal plan, which might save you time and money.)

Moving away from campus can be isolating, or
it can be freeing, depending on your personality and the environment.
It can save you money or cost you more, depending on the cost
of living in the area and your money management skills. Living
off campus can give you more study time, or it can consume
all your study time with cleaning and cooking, depending on
how easily you get distracted. Think about all these things
before you make a decision. |
