The pros and cons of virtue ethics

The good things about virtue ethics:
Focuses on developing the habit of acting according to morals and principles instead of figuring out moral rules.
Emphasizes character.
Recognizes the importance of relationships in moral actions. The virtue of being a son or daughter enables you to act differently toward your parents than a stranger.

The drawbacks of virtue ethics:
Does not address how to act when our interests conflict with those of others.
It is often harder to define what virtues are than what actions are right.
Does not help us decide what a virtuous person would do in specific situations.
